What Does the Data Tell Us? Rethinking Our Approach to Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Keynote Speaker: Ed Racht, MD

The five-year goal: Improve SCA survival rates by 50%. Hear how five states and American Medical Response (AMR) are developing best practices in all phases of cardiac resuscitation through an innovative demonstration project. Despite pockets of success in places like Seattle and Rochester, MN, sudden cardiac arrest survival rates nationwide have hovered around 8%, largely unchanged for the last 20 years. Tackling this challenge head-on is the HeartRescue Project, which aims to bring together all the players needed in both the field and the hospital to ultimately make a difference. The project has partnered with universities in five states–Washington, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Arizona–and AMR. Even though the percentage of cases is small, cardiac arrest is an area where EMS can make a profound difference. Improving survival rates takes commitment, resources and a willingness to work together toward a common goal. Attend this inspiring and informative session to find out how your community can save more lives.
